A splash of colour at World Textile Day
If you are not keen on a feast of colour, I should miss out on this week’s blog – see you next time!

However for those remaining ( I could just be talking to myself) I am always amazed as to how experimental other nationalities are with colourful clothes and fabrics. Despite the young ladies who promenade along the various catwalks at the London fashion houses, I never feel that we Brits experiment with colour in a way that other nationalities do.

On my visits to India and Africa, I have always returned home with an impression of having met people who are far more gorgeously, possibly even outrageously dressed than I. (You are showing your conservative upbringing Robin.)

Last week I visited a touring textile fair where exhibitors produced wares from numerous nationalities. There were garments from central Africa, from South Africa, India and one company who called themselves the Tentmakers of Cairo. Beyond that stalls were filled with hats, baskets and medallions which originated in the bazaars of Syria and the Middle East.

So enjoy the colours for yourself.

And meet the people who brought them.

Enjoy.
