Suddenly something jogs the memory
I wonder if you ever suddenly remember something from the past that you forgot to do.
This week (in addition to all that rain) we had a morning when there was a light mist hanging across the fields.

That mist reminded me that last winter I took a series of photographs one foggy afternoon at Blickling Hall and the surrounding grounds. To tell the truth, that afternoon I received a phone call from the project manager (he normally only phones me when he needs money or when he has just finished an exciting picture). One day when I am a bit stuck for a topic for the blog I will feature some of his artwork. It is quite good, but I would never admit it publicly.

However on this occasion he said that he was down at Blickling, it was a bit foggy and he thought I ought to drive down to join his because he anticipated that the sunset might be quite dramatic.

In fact his timing was quite correct, but it was not so much the sunset – golden as it was, but the shadows that caught my eye, especially near the buildings.

Remarkably I think these photographs work better in black and white than they do in colour. The fog comes out much more clearly in monochrome. In colour it seemed to turn a bit yellow in places and looked quite odd.

By the time we the sun had actually disappeared the old PM complained about the cold and maintained he was thirsty, so we had to retreat into the café for sustenance. Guess who found that he hadn’t got any money (which was after he ordered a tea cake with his cuppa)! But I suppose that’s life and after all he had pointed me in the direction of some interesting images.

Don’t get caught out with the clocks changing this weekend – an extra hour in bed on Sunday.

See you next week.
