Strange

About two weeks ago on a sunny Sunday afternoon I was driving down a fairly main road in Norfolk and was aware of a church in the middle of a field.

Nothing unusual so far! Whatever was growing in the field was bright yellow. So I retraced my route, once I had eaten my lunch, (no point in spoiling good food even for a photograph.) to take some shots of it.

The plant in the field looked for all the world like oil seed rape. (It grows all over Norfolk) BUT AT THE END OF OCTOBER?) This is the point where I feel I need a picture of me with a speech bubble coming out of my mouth and a series of incredulity symbols. (It’s a new punctuation mark that I have just invented.)

To cut a long story short whatever was growing there was the same colour as oil seed rape. Once I put the drone up and looked down on it, the plant looked much greener, but standing in the field it certainly seemed like rape seed – but without the smell.

These are images of the real thing. Yes I have spotted it’s not the same church

I have cleared my inbox in order to accommodate the emails of protest telling me what the plant really is and a couple of pictures of the real thing. Apologies in advance. It was a lovely windless sunny day and I enjoyed being there in the sunshine

Hope you enjoy your weekend just as much.

PS I found one of these in the field behind our house yesterday
