Oh what a lovely war – or was it?

What Mr C said was “we can allow ourselves a brief period of rejoicing!” –

True -but also we need to remember that war was horrible not fun, that people got killed, homes and properties were destroyed and that many still live with a legacy of hurt.

Nevertheless it’s good to relieve tension, it’s good to emerge from the darkness to light and encourage life to be fun again.

So here we are with some images of the party spirit – for some a chance to sing – or dance in the streets, or simply to sit in your own back garden and enjoy the feeling of freedom.

My thanks to those who dressed up and to those who smiled sweetly when I pointed the camera at them and of course the chaps who flew the aeroplane. I think that’s covered everyone.
