Circles of the year
You can have an opinion about the value of something without necessarily knowing the name of it.
Take pretty girls for example! (you can see what’s coming can’t you.) In the old days it was not unknown for friends of mine who used to work on building sites to give a wolf whistle when a pretty girl came in to view. It was intended to be a harmless appreciation and (if you were lucky) the compliment might produce a wave and certainly a smile from the young lady.
But there was never intention of a follow up and in most cases the chaps didn’t ever get to know who she was.

For some reason these days there is a danger that it might be construed as a form of harassment, so generally blokes don’t seem to do it any more. Perhaps building sites have got noisier and more intense – who knows?

But back to the main point I appreciate flowers.

I love their delicate shape and their colour. A lot depends on how they are set out. I don’t always know their names but I enjoy the sight of them and usually the way they are displayed.

In this blog I have taken just a few of my favourites throughout the year and posted them in a way I like to look at them. My actual arrangement in circles has caused not a small amount of controversy and there have been mutterings about what you can do in Photoshop with a little patience and accuracy. However these pictures are constructed in camera.

I only use Photoshop or Lightroom to do a little cropping and sometimes correcting of exposure.

So for what it is worth enjoy my year of flowers and greenery from 2024. Simply passing specimens – I don’t expect there will be any wolf whistles.
Have a good weekend
