Welcome to my non-working fun fair

It’s quite amazing where I get to when I decide to have a day out.

In the sort of weather we have been having, to be honest there isn’t much incentive to go seeking glorious sunrise shots. At the appointed hour all I can manage to find are cloud covered skies and quite often a little drizzle to boot, which sort of encourages me to do nothing more than spend another 20 minutes between the sheets.

So I tried something else last week and decided to vary the programme a little – evening, I thought, that might yield something – it did- more cloud!

Birds of the air circling above

So wandering around in an aimless way, a gift which I have sort of perfected, I came across a fun-fair which was not in use and was being prepared for the coming season by a couple of painters. They were quite intrigued by the attention I was paying to the various objects on the roundabout with the camera.

“I am fascinated by the wild and gaudy colours on the carousal,” I explained. “They get wilder if we spin it round a bit” was their reply … “but you’ll have to pay for a ride!”.

We parted good friends. They assumed I was just cranky and I got some shots which maybe you will find amusing.

The green ones, by the way are created using a “slinky” which came as a prize on a tombola last Autumn. They are a bit unusual and look to me a bit like the sort of effect one might get from a Spirograph.

Yes, of course, I had one of those as a boy.

Simple things please simple photographers.

Hope you have a simple weekend.
