And not a smock insight
I thought artisans all had to wear paint splattered smocks. So kitted up in mine, last Saturday, I visited the “Artisan Fair” at St Peter’s Church Sheringham – on the North Norfolk Coast

I was attracted by the name (as apparently was Radio 2 who mentioned the event) There were some jolly interesting stalls and really interesting people. No one seemed particularly bothered by the camera. It’s not that they posed exactly – they simply got on with arranging their stalls and attending to customers, while I clicked away, in what I hoped was an inconspicuous manner.

I thought there was a tremendous variety of skills and while it is not the purpose of this blog to advertise on behalf of the tradespeople, I would have to say to any of my readers who were not there “You missed a treat”

I was advised that this isn’t the only Artisan Fair at St Peter’s Sheringham – there are others throughout the year. One source of information said the fair happened three times a year – another said four times (I was never very good on numbers) so keep your eyes peeled if you are interested.

For those who think the event looks a little small, I would have to admit that most of the pictures in this week’s blog were shot in the central part of the nave and not along the side aisles – so apologies to any artisans who felt neglected. (I always thought artisans always considered themselves neglected – but perhaps that’s another story.)

That’s it for this week – mainly pictures – smockless pictures! I think I was the only well dressed artisan in attendance!

More stories next week – that’ll be a bit different – think falling trees and a wolf that eats timber and whose master climbs trees!
Next Friday all will be laid bare.
See you
